"Disable"

혹시 ‘디저블’ 이란 말 들어보셨나요?

“이 기능은 디저블 하는 것으로 합시다.”

“설정에서 보니 그 기능이 디저블 되어 있던데요.”

IT 업계에서 일하다 보면 회의 등의 업무 커뮤니케이션에서 자주 접하게 되는데요.

그래서 한번 찾아봤습니다.

disable verb (PERSON)

disable verb (MACHINE)

This weapons system will destroy or disable any incoming missile.

Disable the alarm system and then enter the building.

우선 발음이 ‘디저블’이 아니라 ‘디세이블(벌)’ 이란 것을 알 수 있습니다.

의미를 보면 사람을 대상으로 할 때와 기계를 대상으로 할 때로 나뉘는 것을 볼 수 있습니다.

보통 Enable 과 반대되는 의미로 많이 사용하는데 

의미상으로는 맞게 쓰고 있으니 발음만 주의하면 되겠네요 ^^
